Planting day at Wepre Park, Connah's Quay
November 2022
Wepre Park hosted a team from Convatec – a leading medical devices business which has a large manufacturing presence in Wales – to help plant broad leaf trees to create a new native hedgerow. Together with Countryside Rangers and staff, the Convatec team planted more than 600 saplings to create wildlife habitats and encourage biodiversity.
“Convatec’s promise to customers and patients is to be forever caring. We’re also clear that this extends to the wider community and natural world. As part of this initiative, 35 colleagues planted 600 trees as a further demonstration of our commitment to protect the planet and support communities – a central pillar of our Environmental, Social and Governance approach.”
- Kenny Gibbon - Plant Director, Deeside, Convatec
The trees were all native British species, grown in the UK and included Green Beech, Hawthorn and Holly. These new saplings will provide a perfect habitat for wildlife, promoting biodiversity and preserving the natural environment. The Convatec volunteers gained hands-on experience of how trees are planted and learned how important trees are to the world in which we live.
Convatec has teamed up with Carbon Footprint as part of their carbon management programme and with Tree Appeal, planting native broadleaf trees across the country, sponsoring this initiative.
