Darlington Building Society website

Darlington Building Society is a mutual at heart, putting our members first since 1856.

We have nine branches spread across the North East, County Durham, and North Yorkshire. The branches are supported by our online banking service, Darlingtonline.

We offer a range of savings accounts and mortgages, to help our members save for the future and realise the dream of owning their own home.

Being mutual, means our profits are turned into lower mortgage rates, higher savings rates, and support for local charities.

Our Green Regular Saver account

For every Green Regular Saver account opened, we will plant two trees - one locally and one in Africa. Partnering with Tree Appeal will help us to deliver this important part of our green strategy.

We will also look to collect our members feedback and use this to continue making a difference in this important are in the future.

If Darlington Building Society has planted a tree on your behalf then you will have received some unique Tree Codes. Enter a Tree Code here to find out the location and species of your tree.

Wherever possible we have used a postcode for the location. In woodland and forest locations where this is not appropriate we have provided an OS map reference or latitude and longitude.

Click on the Species Name for full details.

Darlington Building Society have sponsored plantings in the following locations:

Clervaux Garden School, Darlington

Clervaux Trust has been running since 2011 and is situated on a beautiful 100-acre biodynamic farm. Our core offer is to provide education and social care placements for people who struggle with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This includes diagnoses such as: Autistic Spectrum Conditions, learning difficulties, mental health issues and developmental delay. We carry out this work through an innovative new Garden School for ages 10-19, and through a ‘Rise’ social care provision for ages 19+. Our unique educational method is called; Practical Skills Therapeutic Education.

We also have ‘The Fold Family Centre’, a community outreach building equipped with craft workshops, a kitchen, dining and play area, an animal barn, and surrounding gardens. Here, we welcome those in need and use our expertise and holistic approach to benefit the local people.

Therefore, by working closely with the land and local community, Clervaux specialises in nurturing peoples mind, body and soul, improving people’s capacity for social integration and wellbeing.

We are truly grateful that Darlington Building Society has sponsored the planting of 500 trees across the Trust site, that will go towards making hedges, shelterbelts and wildlife corridors, as well as contributing towards future greenwood work; furniture making, turning and carving. We have chosen 11 different species, including native broadleaf such as Oak, Silver Birch and Hazel.
