Planting day at Castle Hill Junior School, Basingstoke

November 2008

Carbon Footprint teamed up with Tree Appeal to plant trees at Castle Hill Junior School in Basingstoke as part of a Climate Change Awareness Week at the school. The trees were sponsored by Carbon Footprint’s clients – businesses and individuals who have worked with Carbon Footprint’s consultants to calculate and offset their emissions – many of whom came along for the day to help Castle Hill students plant 150 trees in the school grounds.

The Mayor of Basingstoke & Deane was also in attendance, learning the art of tree planting from the experts of Castle Hill’s Year 6 group.

The tree planting day was the climax of Castle Hill’s Climate Change Awareness week – Carbon Footprint worked with the school during the week on ways in which we can all play a part in alleviating global warming, saving energy and reducing emissions.

Carbon Footprint MD, John Buckley said, ‘It was a fantastic day and everybody had a great time, from the kids to our customers. It’s great to be involved with our local community, sharing our work with them and investing in the environment for the future by planting trees.’
